How to Preset Deal Pipelines and Stages Using Clone Configurations

Set the Deal Pipeline and Stage automatically for Deals cloned with Clone Attack.

🎯 Why Preset Pipeline and Stage?

When cloning Deals using Clone Attack, you might want every cloned Deal to start in a specific pipeline and stage. For example:

  • 🔁 Send renewals into a Renewals Pipeline

  • 📈 Route upsell Deals to a Growth Pipeline

  • 🌍 Send region-specific Deals to the right sales team’s pipeline

By setting default values for Pipeline and Deal Stage in your Clone Configuration, you gain full control over where cloned Deals go—based on use case.

📋 Instructions

  1. Open the Clone Attack Configuration Page

  2. Create or Edit a Clone Configuration for Deals

    • Click Edit on an existing Deal configuration

    • Or click Create Configuration, then select Deals as the object type

  3. Add Pipeline and Stage Properties

    set-deal-stage-and-pipeline@2x

    • In the Properties tab, click + Add Property

    • Search for and select:

      • Pipeline

      • Deal Stage

    • Set the behavior for both to Set Default Value

    • Select the pipeline and stage you want to assign

  4. 💾 Save Your Configuration

    • Click Save to apply your changes

  5. ✅ (Optional) Test Your Configuration

    • Run a test Deal clone to confirm it lands in the correct pipeline and stage

⚠️ Important: Matching Pipeline and Stage

Make sure the Deal Stage you select belongs to the same Pipeline.
If there’s a mismatch, the clone may fail or land in the wrong stage.

💡 Best Practices

  • 📋 Create separate Clone Configurations for each use case—renewals, upsells, handoffs, etc.—to keep things organized
  • 🏷️ Use clear configuration names like "Renewal Deal – Set to Renewal Started"

  • 🔄 Keep multiple configurations for different teams or Deal types

  • 🧪 Always test before rolling out to your team
