Clone Attack Starter Guide

Overview of the Clone Attack setup process and tips to start cloning successfully.

🧠 What Is Clone Attack and How Does It Work?

Clone Attack lets you quickly duplicate HubSpot records — including Deals, Contacts, Tickets, and Companies — while giving you full control over what gets copied.

It uses Clone Configurations to define:

  • Which properties to clone or skip

  • Default values for new records (e.g. pipeline, deal stage, deal type)

  • Which associations (contacts, companies, etc.) to bring over

There are two methods of cloning:

  • Manual cloning directly from the record using the Clone Attack app card

  • Automatic cloning through HubSpot workflows using the Clone Record (Clone Attack) action

This makes it easy to repeat common processes — like cloning a deal into a renewal pipeline or creating a follow-up ticket. 

 

🚀 Setup Guide

  1. Install Clone Attack (if you haven’t already)

  2. Create Your First Clone Configuration
    See: How to Create a Clone Configuration

    • Open the Clone Attack app in HubSpot

    • Choose your object type and define property/association settings

    • You can create multiple configurations for different use cases

  3. Add the Clone Attack App Card to Record Views

  4. Clone Your First Record

    • Open any Deal, Ticket, Contact, or Company record

    • Use the Clone Attack app card to select your configuration and click Clone Record

  1. (OPTIONAL) Add Clone Attack to your Workflows:

    • Use the Clone Attack action inside HubSpot workflows to automate cloning when a record meets your workflow conditions.

    • Add the action by clicking + Add Action in any workflow and selecting Clone Record (Clone Attack)

    • Select a dynamic value for the name of the cloned record
      Example: {Deal Name} - Renewal

    • Choose the Clone Configuration to use in the workflow
